Breastfeeding
Peer Support
My journey as a birth worker started with peer support, after breastfeeding my own son for 3 years and supporting women in my community informally.
I was then trained as a breastfeeding supporter at Milton Keynes University Hospital by Midwife, Breastfeeding Specialist and all-round amazing woman Ros McFadden (IBCLC). I volunteered on the antenatal wards at the hospital until I started my Midwifery degree, then continued providing breastfeeding support as a student midwife until I left the obstetric system to become a radical birthworker (and here I am now!).
As a Doula, I can support you with:
Positioning
Hand Expression
Tips & Tricks for Bonding & getting the oxytocin flowing!
I believe that understanding how our bodies work when breastfeeding gives parents the tools to build an effective breastfeeding partnership with their babies.
Breastfeeding support is offered as part of my holistic post-natal Doula services.
